Mission Eye & Ear is a live cinema series organized by San Francisco Bay Area bassist, composer and curator Lisa Mezzacappa, that brings together improvisers from around the world to play live music scores to short experimental films from San Francisco's rich underground film and video scene. The films, ranging in length from three to 30 minutes, explore political and social commentary, documentary storytelling, dreamlike cinescapes, psychedelic excursions, and formal abstraction using found, archival and newly-shot footage. Mission Eye & Ear is a collaboration with the 30-year-old Mission District film and video space Artists Television Access (ATA), and has traveled to cities in Germany, Italy and the US. Mission Eye & Ear: Wesleyan will feature performances by Wesleyan improvisers and instrumentalists from all corners of the campus.
