 A Panel Conversation with Four Teachers in Russell House

  GEORGE COOKSEY MAL '10 teaches English at Guilford High School, where he also coaches track and field. He studied English at Penn State, received his masters at Wesleyan, and earned his 6th year degree in Educational Administration at Southern Connecticut University. Before arriving at Guilford High School in 2007, he taught at St. John’s Preparatory School in Astoria, NY, from 1989 through 2007. ANN DEIBERT (GLSP) teaches English and film studies at Haddam-Killingworth High School, where she also coaches girls basketball and girls lacrosse. She studied Secondary Education-English at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she played collegiate basketball, and she is working on her graduate degree from Wesleyan with a concentration in Humanities. ALISON DENZER-KING '16 teaches 9th grade English/Language Arts at the Bronx River High School, where she also coaches public forum debate. She was placed at this school through the New York City-based nonprofit, Blue Engine. Blue Engine partners with AmeriCorps and New York City public schools to bring together teams of aspiring and veteran teachers in the classroom in order to decrease the student-teacher ratio and increase differentiation and individualization. She studied psychology at Wesleyan University and received the Study of Education Certificate. TIM WATT teaches English at the Chase Collegiate School, where he directs Chase - Andover Bread Loaf, and coaches the boys varsity lacrosse team. He studied English at Hobart College, received his M.F.A. from Brown University, and his PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The panel will be followed by an informal dinner to which all students are invited.
