Sarah Stillman is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where she covers criminal justice reform, immigration, and other social policy issues. Stillman also directs the Global Migration Project at Columbia Journalism School, and has taught writing at Yale and at the Cheshire Correctional Institution in Connecticut. Her award-winning work has appeared in The Washington PostThe NationThe New RepublicSlate and The Atlantic, and been anthologized in The Best American Magazine Writing 2012 and The Best American Magazine Writing 2017. Currently, she is focused on studying U.S. immigration enforcement and mass incarceration trends. She is a 2016 MacArthur Fellow.
