"Race and Environment from Hippocrates to the Smithsonian Institute" by Rebecca Futo Kennedy, Associate Professor of Classics, Denison University

In this talk, we explore theories from ancient Greece and Rome that connect differences in human group physiology and culture, what we today call race and ethnicity, to climate and geography and how those ideas were used by anthropologists and other scientists in the 19th century to develop scientific forms of racism.
