A collection of writing from across Wesleyan University and its surrounding towns

The Route Nine Anthology is a collection of poetry and prose from Wesleyan students, faculty, staff, and Middlesex County residents. It is the first collection of prose dedicated specifically to bridging the literary divide between the Wesleyan and Middlesex County communities.

Oliver Egger is the editor and compiler of The Route 9 Anthology: A Collection of Writing from Wesleyan University Students, Faculty, Staff, & Middlesex County Residents which is forthcoming this fall from Wesleyan University Press. He is a senior at Wesleyan University studying English and Religion and is from Durham, North Carolina. His poetry can be found in The California Quarterly, Oyster River Pages, Moonstone Press, and more.

Patricia Horn O’Brien graduated from Columbia School of Social Work and has worked and volunteered as a social worker throughout her adult life. She’s a member of the Guilford Poets Guild and co-founder of the local poetry group, CT River Poets. She's helped in the establishment of Prison Hospice in three CT prisons and facilitated poetry workshops with fellow poets at York C.I. She initiated the ongoing program, Paintings and Poetry, at Florence Griswold Museum, which includes poets from CT River Poets, GPG, and creative writing students from Old Saybrook High School. Pat's been published in several publications, including CT Review, Embers, Pulp Smith, Poet Lore, Caduceus, Red Fox Review, Freshwater and Connecticut River Review, Laureates of CT, Waking up to the Earth and, most recently, The Route 9 Anthology. Her first collection of poetry, When Less Than Perfect is Enough, published by Antrim Books in 2012, is now in its 2nd printing. She and her son, Richard Manders, co-wrote and published their memoir about their adoption journey, The Laughing Rabbit: A Mother, a Son, and the Ties that Bind in 2018. Her next poetry book, Scatter and the Gap, will be published later this year. Pat is Poet Laureate of Old Saybrook, CT.

Douglas A. Martin is the author of some ten books spanning genres, most recently Wolf, a queer intervention into the true crime tale. Other titles include Branwell, a novel of the Brontë brother; a book-length essay, Acker; and Outline of My Lover, named an International Book of the Year in the Times Literary Supplement and adapted by The Forsythe Company for the live film-ballet, Kammer/Kammer. They have taught at Wesleyan since 2008 and serve as Assistant Director of Creative Writing.
